Bistros and restaurants
From traditional polish cuisine to fancy fusion meals. Almost every district in Krakow conceals some places, where you can find delicious food. Let’s start from Zakładka Food & Wine – a simple French-inspired cooking focusing on veal, rabbit, fresh fish and mussels, as well as few vegetarian items. It is definitely one of the best places around Podgórze. Taste one of the marvelous wines from their list. The nearby Kazimierz offers i.e. Sąsiedzi - a great mix of Polish and international dishes with an unfussy, relaxed service. When you’re looking for some really unique character, visit Karakter – the one and only place in Kazimierz, where you can taste mains like horse sweetbread schnitzel and bull testicles. Those, who prefer more traditional cuisine, will for sure enjoy Albertina Restaurant&Wine. Despite its central location in the Old Town, it can be a nice romantic place for a dinner, private party or intimate business meeting.
If you restrain from meat, you won’t get disappointed, having multiple vegan and vegetarian venues to choose from. If you look for some quick place to eat, Chimera can be an ideal choice for you. Located in the Old Town, it offers a variety of veggie items, all in reasonable prices. Not much farther there is a real rare book, the first vegan fast-food in Krakow. Vegab is a one and only kebab place serving 100% vegetable kebab, created from bio tofu, pods and wheat proteins. Also a stone throw away from the Main Market Square, you can find Glonojad. A self-service dining bar, which is great, if you appreciate fresh, local fruits and vegetables, coming from farms around Krakow. You should also try one of their delicious desserts.
Cafes and pastry shops
Speaking of desserts, you may want to know where to pop in for the best flans or sit down for a cup of coffee. One of such places can be Wesoła Café. Functioning from 2014, it serves one of the best coffees in town. It is a place driven by passion for coffee, where the baristas really know their stuff and can elaborate on it for hours. If you miss those old-style coffee houses, you shall definitely explore Blossom. Designed in a traditional way, it will make you feel comfortable and homey, forgetting about the world outside. If you have a sweet tooth, you shall definitely check out Café Camelot. Located near the Main Market Square, constitutes a hidden gem with all its mouth-washing tarts and desserts and the traditional apple-pie on the front-line.
Hope you’ll really enjoy your time in Krakow. Once you feel replete with food, you can always burn a few calories doing some physical activity, i.e. throwing axes in the Bad Axe club, located just a stone throw from the Main Market Square and most of the eating places (Basztowa 10). P.S. Watch out, as it can be as addictive as polish sweets.
